They're absolutely basic (just some bent metal) but they definitely do the job and I like the way they look. Solved my problem!
Better than a couple of bricks May 27, 2005 C. S. Mako (Jersey Side of the GW) 51 out of 57 found this review helpful
THese bookends are doing the job for me right now. There's not much to them. In fact I felt a little like a sucker when I unpacked them because they're just a couple pieces of bent steel (or something). Then I thought about it, and I decided that I'd rather have someone else find and bend the steel, because I have no idea how to do that kind of stuff. I'd probably make a big mess, ruin my steel (or whatever), leave it in the middle of the room, and then just use extra-large cans of beans (or bricks or something)as bookends. THese bookends are worth the price, and actually much more effective than beans.
don't bother with these July 18, 2009 L. King 7 out of 10 found this review helpful
I liked the sleek, trim look of these small bookends for my shelves that hold my paperbacks. I am returning these bookends because there is a significant ding in a bookend for each of the two pairs I got. There was no packing in the box so the bookends just rattled around. For the shape these arrived in, they would have been on the clearance table in a retail store. This size is marginal for supporting standard sized paperback. I am putting some packing in the boxes when I return these since that is just the decent thing to do.
